Book Blog Newbie Tag

Seeing as this is my first post on my new blog channel, I found it quite fitting to do the Book Blog Newbie Tag so you can get to know me and my reading habits a little better!

1. Why did you start this blog?

I have been reading book blogs and watching BookTube videos for over 3 years now, and have always wanted to become a part of the online community to share my thoughts. I don’t know many people in my personal life that love reading as much as I do, and therefore always end up keeping my passion for books and thoughts to myself. Hopefully this blog will be a place where I can meet new people who love Young Adult books as much as I do, and to share recommendations with and fangirl over our favourite bookish things!

2. What are some fun and unique things you can bring to book blogging?

I like to think I am a really creative person, with reading, drawing, painting and scrapbooking being my favourite things to do. Hopefully this will help with creating new and exciting content!

3. What are you most excited for about this new blog?

Definitely making new friends and finally being able to pour all my book emotions out to others rather than keep them locked up in my brain!

4. Why do you love reading?

Escapism. Books allow me to immerse into a new world with a new identity and we all need to escape from the real world now and again. I love the magic of reading, how it has the ability to shape us an individuals and how much we can learn from books. I will never get tired of being transformed into different settings with different characters; I find it so comforting, relaxing and uplifting.

5. What book or series got you into reading?

My parents always read to me when I was a child so reading really has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. However, when I began to read for myself the first author that I reached for was Jacqueline Wilson. Her books were so addicting and her writing style always captivated my young mind. I have read all of her books, numerous times and continue to read them now even though I’m 21. I love reliving the magic I felt was I was a 9 year old girl and it’s amazing to see now as adult how much depth her stories really do have!

6. What questions would you ask your favourite authors?

7. What challenges do you think starting a blog will be the hardest to overcome?

Broadening my horizons is definitely the biggest challenge I will face. I am very fussy with the books I will pick up and read. I tend to always stick with Young Adult and Middle Grade and will rarely venture into other genres. I would love to begin to do this, and have told myself I want to start reading more widely now I have this blog! Let’s see if that ever happens….

8. When did you start reading?

As I mentioned above, my parents read to me every night before I went to sleep so reading has captivated me since I was a young child. I began reading for myself when I was 4/5 and continued to do so throughout my life. There has never been a time when I haven’t read, I have always been that person with a book in their hand or their bag!

9. Where do you read?

EVERYWHERE. Bed, the sofa, at the table, in the garden, in the car… No matter where I am, I will be reading.

10. What kind of books do you like to read?

I love Young Adult books, particularly contemporaries. I really enjoy reading about real issues teenagers face and how they grow and develop through obstacles. I am a sucker for a good YA romance and coming of age stories. I also do like to revisit Middle Grade books to relive my childhood years and feel nostalgic. I would love to start to read more widely and I’m hoping this actually happens!

Thank you for reading my tag! I hope you enjoyed it! Please let me know your answers to some of the questions, I would love to chat about them!
